Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the manager, Chief Technologist and Medical Director, the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in one of more of the following areas: blood bank, chemistry serology, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, special chemistry, and/or microbiology.
The Technologist obtains or receives specimens, performs laboratory tests according to written procedures, understands methods and principles, performs and evaluates quality control on a daily basis and informs the Chief Technologist or Laboratory Manager of problems.
The technologist performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation and interprets results as to their accuracy, acceptability and critical limits and organizing work to meet established deadlines and record all data obtained.
The technologist is also responsible for instruction of MT and MLT students.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Prefer at least two (2) years experience as Medical Technologist. May consider less experience for entry level position as determined by manager.
B.S. degree in Medical Technology or related field of study.
Able to work independently, read and analyze technical material and to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Must be able to handle and process confidential information.
Must demonstrate the ability to understand and practice unique infant/child, adolescent and geriatric population differences and to effectively meet those needs as they related to patient handling, specimen processing and collection.
CT MEDTECHI = Cert Medical Technologist.
Must be licensed by the state of Nevada as a Medical Technologist General Supervisor, national certification as MT (ASCP) or equivalent required, generalist experience desirable with strong background in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology/serology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LIC CLT = Licensed Clinical Technologist with LIC MTGS = Licensed Medical Technologist, General Supervisor preferred.
