Touro College Wellness Coach / Student Coord in Henderson, Nevada

The Wellness Coach and Student Coordinator works collaboratively with the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) staff and Student Counseling Services (SCS) staff to ensure that TUN student mental health needs are met. Reporting to the Clinical Psychologist, the Wellness Coach and Student Coordinator is responsible for providing outreach, coaching, coordination, and case management for students with an emphasis on providing services to underserved populations such as veterans, LGBTQ, first generation students, and underrepresented minorities (URMs). The Wellness Coach and Student Coordinator will provide advocacy and resource services for students in the form of casework duties. This may include monitoring progress in treatment, assessing of level of functioning, evaluating needs and resources, and facilitating appropriate referrals to meet emotional, behavioral, social, financial, health, and other basic living needs. The position will include the creation of resource guides for students to meet these various needs. The person will collect pertinent student data and coordinate with other team members for appropriate student intervention and work cooperatively with the care team. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the University’s core values of social justice, intellectual pursuit, and service to humanity through their work.

This position is grant funded and expires January 2023. There is the potential that the position could become permanent, but this is not guaranteed.

  • Duties include but are not limited to maintaining a caseload and providing appropriate client documentation; assessing clients needs and in understanding and coping with emotional and social problems; facilitating education and referrals; gathering relevant information pertaining to case issues; writing psychosocial evaluations and treatment plans; assuring compliance with agency and governmental practice, ethical, and confidentiality standards; and providing advocacy and resource brokerage services for clients.

  • The Wellness Coach and Student Coordinator works independently with minimal supervision, but must also be able to work effectively on a team or as a team leader.

  • This position requires excellent collaborative, writing, speaking, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines, multitask, thrive in a busy environment, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Serves as a point of contact for mental health services within Student Counseling Services, to include answering or directing telephone and e-mail inquiries and providing information and training to students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues.

  • Collaborate with those involved in wellness programming efforts campus wide.

  • Participate in university committee work.

  • Participate in student events such as, but not limited to, orientation, white coat ceremony, commencement, etc.

  • Assist with university events as needed which include occasional evening and weekend commitments.

  • Show a capacity to support and celebrate students from a variety of identities (race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, sex, age, etc.).

  • Other duties as assigned by the licensed psychologist.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field is required.


  • One year of related casework experience is preferred.

  • Experience working in an academic setting is preferred.

  • Higher education experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in working with people of diverse and differing backgrounds

Skills & Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office experience required.

  • High degree of proficiency with word processing and data management programs, with attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Proficiency with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom).

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Superior customer service skills.

  • Experience with and enthusiasm about working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a busy environment.
