As an Aquarist II, you will be responsible for the day-to-day duties of the department and work with the Education, Life Support and Dolphin Care teams. You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations and ordinances as well as corporate and departmental policies, practices and procedures.


  • Engage, entertain and inspire all who visit by making a focused commitment to S.H.O.W. service standards

  • Function as the manager in the absence of the Curator of Aquarium Systems and assist in the husbandry and life support of aquarium systems and daily care of animal exhibits

  • Test, evaluate, and maintain water quality on all exhibits and associated systems using laboratory grade equipment

  • Prepare animal diets, daily feedings and care for exhibits in accordance with established protocols

  • Observe the animal collection daily and effectively communicate any health-related issues to the Curator of Aquariums and Staff Veterinary Team; as well as, capture, handle, transfer and transport fish, reptiles and invertebrates in exhibits and holding tanks

  • ·Diagnose diseases, assist with medical treatments/procedures, perform necropsies, and specimen transports

  • Inspect, maintain, repair, operate and clean aquarium, life support system and filtration equipment; maintain accurate up-to-date records and observation logs

  • Interact with guests to share knowledge and answer questions about the aquariums and their inhabitants

  • Mentor and train new employees and interns

  • Other job-related duties as requested


  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms

  • Able to lead and mentor a team

  • Proficiency of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine

  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • One ‐ Three years of related experience

  • Work varied shifts to include weekends and holidays


  • Open Water SCUBA Diver Certification


  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • Degree in Biological Sciences

  • Three (3) years of experience operating a closed water aquarium filtration system

  • Experience working in a similar resort setting
