This position follows directions of carpenters to perform specific duties in the construction of walls and footings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Installs ties, forms and hardware.
Aligns, straightens, plumbs and squares forms.
Measures, cuts and assists in installing keyways.
Assists with footing construction.
Secures stakes to grids.
Nails scabs to footing forms.
Assists carpenter in raising forms to required elevation.
Consolidates concrete in forms.(shallow depths)
Performs tie spacing layout; measures, marks and drills and/or cuts.
Straightens, plumbs and squares wall forms. Aligns to grid lines.
Shoots grades on forms to required elevation.
Vibrates and floats concrete (16' - 20').
Maintains a clean and safe job site.
Stacks cut waste material into piles.
Installs handrails under the direction of carpenter.
- Helps install architectural finishes.
Helps install door frames.
Helps install doors and hardware
Helps install miscellaneous trim and finish items.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Works effectively as a member of the direct field workforce.
Cooperates with co-workers to improve both the quality of work and the morale of the project site.
Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
Works diligently to perform in a safe manner according to Layton Construction guidelines.

Detects attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension or force by tactile means. (Feel)
Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken work. (Speak)
Perceives the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,00 Hz with or without correction. (Hear)
Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body or its parts.
Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
Applies common sense or logic to carry out detailed, involved instructions with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Owns tools required of carpenter helper position.
Has high school diploma or equivalent.
Understands and conveys English commands, questions, and instructions on an eighth-grade level regarding concrete construction.
Is at least 18 years of age.
Frequently: Exposed to weather
Occasionally: Extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid, exposure to dust and fumes, and working in high exposed places.
Noise Intensity can be intense, necessary protection provided.
