Position Summary: Oversees patient financial services operations activities including supervising support staff, establishing policies and procedures, overseeing billing and collection activities, performing strategic planning.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience in Revenue Cycle and billing and collections management and three (3) years management experience.

Knowledge of: Leadership and managerial theories and principles; strategic planning theories and principles; hospital and physician billing systems; AR strategy inclusive of vendor management; budgeting theories and principles; Hospital and departmental policies and principles; laws, rules, regulations and standards governing billing, collections, finances and financial reporting in health care facilities; generally accepted accounting principles (G.A.A.P.); department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in: Developing and enforcing departmental policies and procedures; writing financial and technical reports; reviewing and analyzing billing and claims reports; determining acceptable payments and time frames; developing interpersonal relations with a variety of people; negotiating settlements on third party accounts; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical office environment and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
