WSP is currently initiating a search for an Experienced Water Resource Engineer for our Las Vegas, Nevada office. Our growing Water & Environment team is excited about the future in our industry and is looking for an energetic engineer to lead some of the areas most exciting project opportunities! The successful individual will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals delivering drainage, stormwater, and flood control projects within the region. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual that would like to continue to grow their career while working on transportation, local, municipal, and water resource projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform in a project delivery role leading teams to plan and design municipal and transportation related stormwater drainage, water resources engineering and flood control management projects

  • Lead teams performing hydrologic and hydraulic studies and design using simulation software and interpreting results

  • Prepare documents including reports, plans, specifications, and anticipated construction costs

  • Assist project manager in task, schedule and budget management

  • Assist in leading technical proposal development, project identification, and client service management

  • Lead the development of plans and specifications for construction

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

  • Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling including interpretation and presentation of results

  • Lead the development of plans and specifications for construction

  • Experience with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) urban drainage criteria requirements and guidelines

  • Watershed and floodplain management processes, including development and submittal of Conditional Letter of Map Revisions (CLOMR) and Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) process

  • Bridge hydraulic/scour analysis

  • Water resource management, open channel, and flood control systems

  • Desired project management experience in scope, schedule, budget and team management

  • A collaborative leader with excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to develop and mentor technical teams

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading the planning, design and construction support for stormwater, site and transportation drainage, and flood control projects

  • Nevada Professional Engineer registration

  • Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiences in Green Infrastructure and Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater management

  • Knowledge and experience with MicroStation and ESRI GIS software are highly desirable; and,

  • Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement
