Job DescriptionJob Title: Network Engineer
Location: :Las Vegas, NV
The Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) National Center of Radiation Field Operations provides network, desktop, and general IT support services. Our client supports several network environments, a local network which provide training on the Tribal Air Management and users of laboratory and scientific equipment and systems. The Network Engineer will be responsible for a virtualized server systems and network services. The Network Engineer must understand diverse network technologies and work with EPA technical staff to ensure that networks fulfill program requirements. Requires good understanding of network security and application of best practices including timely updates, standard configurations, encryption, and up-to-date technologies. The Network Engineer will work on site with the staff of the NCRFO/ Client RIEL team in Las Vegas, NV.
STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION:
o The Network Engineer must have a strong background in all aspects of network infrastructure including routers, switches, satellite systems, wireless access, wiring, various network protocols (IPv4, IPv6, DHCP), VPN tunneling, etc.
o Requires good organizational and logical thinking skills to design, configure, and manage the network and to diagnose and solve problems.
o The Network Engineer must have a general understanding ofvirtualized server systems and network services.
o Must understand diverse network technologies and work with EPA technical staff to ensure that networks fulfill program requirements and are available when required.
o Must be able to support and troubleshoot IT systems for remote field operations, using multiple means of communication.
o Conducts regular testing of IT infrastructure for emergency response.
o Requires good understanding ofnetwork securityand application of best practices including timely updates, standard configurations, encryption, and up-to-date documentation.
This position will ensure that network security procedures are properly implemented and enforced. Must possess effective demonstrable interpersonal skills for both written and verbal communication. Studies vendor products to determine those which best meet the organization needs; assists in presentation of information to management for purchase and installation of new technology, hardware, and software.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
The Network Engineer must have aBachelorâs degreein a related technical discipline withat least four (4) years of experience
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
o Possess a thorough knowledge of current technological environments such as the Internet, Client/Server, Operating System (OS) software, and systems integration within a networked environment.
oCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA),
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
o Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
NOTE: Employees supporting this Program must be able to obtain the appropriate Public Trust level clearance, but does not have to be in place when the candidate starts. Clearance will be processed by the EPA.
