DaVita Pharmacy Technician - Managed Care in Las Vegas, Nevada
Provide integrated support, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, to DaVita Medical Group clinicians and patients to decrease prescription drug costs and improve clinical quality measures.
Responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope
Responsible for all actions/responsibilities as described in company controlled documentation for this position.
Contributes to and the corporation’s quality initiatives by planning, communicating and encouraging team and individual contributions toward the corporation’s quality improvements efforts
Performs and supervise clerical and administrative duties as directed
Documents pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record as it relates to job functions.
Participates in therapeutic drug conversion programs by
Providing prescription cost information reports to the providers and cost-effective alternatives to costly medications
Contact patients telephonically to discuss medications cost savings opportunities
Data entry and maintenance.
Assists in preparation for Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee meetings and types meeting minutes
Maintains and distributes health plan(s) cost savings opportunities and quality improvement reports
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Actively participates in process improvement initiatives.
Participates regularly in staff and departmental meetings
Uses, protects, and discloses DMG patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Minimum: 2-3 years of experience.
• Preferred: 3 years and above of experience as certified pharmacy technician; preferably in Managed Care or Ambulatory Care
• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum: Current Nevada Start Board of Pharmacy Technician License
• Minimum: PTCB Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology
Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge in medication therapeutic categories
Ability to identify generic name for brand name drugs and vice versa
Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge in understanding indication for medication.
Computer literate (i.e. Strong knowledge of Windows and MS applications (Word, Excel).
Ability to type 40 wpm
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a relatively unsupervised environment with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to easily adapt to change in procedures and work processes.
