Primary Function

Support leadership, management and direction for assigned Shaw-Lundquist Associates construction project(s). Maintain project information, financials, documents, drawings & specifications and schedule as directed while working as a project team member. Coordinate and communicate with Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers and the Owner as directed by the Superintendent and/or Project Manager. Interact and report as needed to management the status of your responsibilities for the project. Lead and practice the SLA mission statement and core principles.

Position Authority/Guidelines

You are expected to work with some independence using your experience, initiative, and sound judgment to accomplish work responsibilities and duties, however, communication and collaboration with the entire team is critical and will allow you to develop. You are requested to continue your professional development, especially your knowledge of construction, through ongoing training and education. This includes keeping abreast of changes in procedures, laws and regulations relating to work responsibilities and the construction industry.

Typical Duties: Support the execution of the project as directed by the Project Manager and /or Superintendent.

  • Organized and disciplined with a strong focus on time management; assumes responsibility for decisions and fulfilling job assignments.

  • Learn and integrates new technology to streamline daily job responsibilities.

  • Establish and maintain control for all project administration you are assigned through the use of the SLA online management system - ProCore.

  • Communicates in all relationships with clear and tactful written, auditory and verbal skills.

  • Creates a synergetic environment by sharing information, strategy and resources amongst team members.

  • Manages, organizes, and reviews all submittals for compliance with standard construction documentation.

  • Reviews returned submittals and verifies changes.

  • Generates submittal log and issues to contractors.

  • Manages, organizes, and reviews all requests for information (RFI’s).

  • Posts RFI’s to As-built set.

  • Regularly coordinate with contractors and consultants to streamline the RFI process.

  • Resolves coordination problems associated with approvals.

  • Assume responsibility and appropriately administer sound work practices for your project responsibilities.

  • Be accountable for monthly project reporting and appropriate use of company Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Attend and contribute to project meetings.

  • Support schedule creation, maintenance, and compliance.

  • Assure compliance with all SOP standards, safety policies, and affirmative action & equal opportunity employment goals.

  • When instructed, be responsible for the support of pre-construction, construction, and closeout phases of the construction project.

  • Work cooperatively with the on-site construction team to ensure thorough documents, plans & specifications; also, have concise understanding of all submittals.

  • Resolves coordination problems associated with approvals.

  • Distributes documentation to subcontractors such as:o Delta’so Addendumso ASI’so RFI’s

  • Organizes and maintains current drawings and specification sets.

  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Reviews and evaluates sub contractors As-built drawings.

  • Frequent on-site visual project review. Walk the job to observe and understand the operations. Provide a second set of eyes for zero injury safety policies, construction schedule, QA/QC and all document requirements.

  • Develops QAQC reports.

  • Plans and monitors quality control issues in accordance with project specifications and client expectations.

  • Utilizes job specifications and contract drawings to establish a list of procurement items.

  • Distributes documentation to subcontractors.

  • Assist with primary and secondary estimating and marketing efforts, if needed.

  • Understand the subcontractor contract language and process. Understand the change management procedures and process.

  • Collaborate and support the on-site construction superintendents.

  • Works with project manager and superintendent to oversee the project schedule.

  • Maintains progress photograph files for each job.

  • Verifies project closeout documentation for conformance with project specifications.

  • Organizes and implements our punch list process.

  • Manages subcontractors to complete punch list items.

  • Develop an expert knowledge of construction technology.

  • Develop professional and personal relationships with others. Communicate clearly and effectively to all parties.

  • Be accountable for responsibilities you are assigned.

  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.

  • Keeps project team well informed of changes within the projects.

  • Manages day-to-day job specific client interactions.

  • Sets and manages client expectations.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience shall include:

  • Minimum High School diploma

  • Experience in related field and/or BS degree in construction management or engineering (or related field) preferred.

  • Job requires a working knowledge of estimating, project management, accounting, and construction management software.

  • Candidates must have an understanding of construction process, means and methods and safety procedures.

  • Must be able to take direction and perform tasks as needed.

  • Strong work ethic and learning attitude required.

  • Minimum OSHA 10 (preferably OSHA 30) safety certification.

  • Position is considered an entry level position.
