Purchasing AgentCATEGORYAccounting/Finance DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent will assist in all aspects of procurement. This position will be responsible for researching prices for supplies and materials based on best price and value commensurate with quality, lead time and/or volume. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village's organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of clients and of staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSPONSIBILITIES:Validate purchase requisitions are completed accurately including appropriate approvalsGenerate purchase orders based on approved requisitions in a timely and efficient mannerCommunicate with vendors to ensure supplies and materials needed are met expectations, including, price, quality, lead-time, etc.Research price options and purchase items based upon best price commensurate with quality, lead-time and/or volume.Secure quotes for supplies and materials for potential future contractsProvide exceptional customer service while maintaining compliance with set standards and policesMaintain vendor files, purchase orders and other related recordsPerform other duties as assignedPOSITION REQUIREMENTSSKILLS REQUIRED:Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand others reactions and behaviors.Knowledge of purchasing and production planning principlesAbility to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilitiesAbility to perform job duties with minimal supervisionAbility to identify, define problems and draw valid solutionsAbility to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiativeAbility to work under pressure and tight deadlinesStrong organizational skillsDetailed, analytical and results orientedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequired: High School Diploma or equivalent and two 2+ years experience in purchasing and planning functionsRequired: Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite softwarePreferred: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Business or Finance or Supply ChainPreferred: Previous Great Plains or similar ERP system experiencePreferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.PHYSICAL ABILITIES and WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of the job.
