Mission Support and Test Services, LLC Senior Principal Engineer in Mercury, Nevada
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and at least 14 years’ relevant experience.
Nuclear Facility Worker. This position is subject to the requirements of DOE Order 426.2.
Relevant professional experience that provided a thorough knowledge of codes, principles, practices, and techniques is a plus
Must have a working knowledge of MSHA requirements
Experience, skill, or training in the function of performing workload distribution and work execution is preferred
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact in a tactful, professional, and effective manner
Must be able to cope with conflicting deadlines, heavy workloads, and constant interruptions
Skilled in business usage of the English language
Work under general direction
Learns quickly, detailed oriented, and work within a team environment where challenges become opportunities
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must be willing to work in an underground mining environment.
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
An ability to obtain a DOE “Q” security clearance and Human Reliability Program certification. Applicant selected will be subject to Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.” Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

Reports to U1a Complex Engineering Manager as a System Engineer with responsibility for mining. Position requires supporting Design Engineering group for development of mining designs. Performs engineering tasks requiring standard techniques with special emphasis on tunneling, ground support design, shaft work, and ventilation design. Other duties and responsibilities include:
Provide engineering support for tunnel and ground monitoring.
Perform engineering support for mobile equipment used in the underground, including mining equipment.
Provide engineering support for mine hoists
Prepares procurement requirements and work statements for subcontracts, including the evaluation of bids.
Guides implementation and utilization of technology for both experimental and operational needs.
Performs technical activities that require interpretation and correlation of codes and standards, complex computer software, and processes tailored for the work being executed.
Supports field programs through assessment and interpretation of field conditions.
Effectively demonstrate communication skills necessary to collaborate in a team environment.
May serve as lead on teams requiring coordination with multiple disciplines.
Accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes.
