Mission Support and Test Services, LLC Engineer II - Mechanical in North Las Vegas, Nevada

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accredidation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and 2 years’ related experience.

  • Must have excellent oral/written communications skills.

  • Must possess planning/organizing skills and initiative, and be capable of employing independent judgment and knowledge to ensure that requirements are completed efficiently and on time.

  • Must be able to effectively deal with pressures of deadlines and multiple tasks.

  • Experience with working in a team environment that includes scientist, engineers, technicians, and designers.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a dynamic multidisciplinary project environment with simultaneous commitments to performance, cost, and schedule.

  • Limited travel is required

  • Experience using standard office software products.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering equipment, software, systems, calculations, and applications of engineering methods.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, and work as part of a team.

  • Must be able to execute work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

Responsibilities

  • Devises imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions requiring evaluation of standards and processes. Solutions may be unique.

  • Coordinates execution of assigned projects.

  • Works independently and with working groups with diagnostic development and or deployment.

  • Interface regularly with coworkers, other department teams, and other company organizations to support upcoming experiments.

  • Primary work locations will be the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) and North Las Vegas, as required by experiments.

  • Work may be outdoors or underground, and some travel may be required.

  • Contributes to strategies, reports and technical proposals.

  • Supports field programs and designs using pre-determined principles and practices.

  • Guides implementation and utilization of technology for both experimental and operational needs.

  • Assists in performing design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.

  • Builds teaming relationships with technical colleagues and other company organizations.

  • Follows specific established engineering and technical procedures and instructions.

  • Assists in defining specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.

  • May monitor the work of and provide guidance to technicians and other support personnel, working on their projects.

  • Assist in the development, improvement, and systematization of organizational processes and procedures for engineering design control and documentation, as well as the organization’s configuration management processes.

  • Assist in the development of processes relevant to electrical and software design in support of the organization’s applied engineering work.
