JT4 NetworkTechnician - Communications in North Las Vegas, Nevada


This position at Creech Air Force Base supports a wide variety of operational systems that provide data distribution, transport, monitoring, and application processing. As a network technician, this position requires experience in supporting projects to implement, test, and troubleshoot assigned systems. Technical knowledge of assigned systems and ability to learn new technology is required to successfully perform assigned duties.

Assist in design, plan, and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technologies.

Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems related to network LANs/WANs.

Member of installation teams (including vendors), participates in planning meetings identifies tasks, material, tools, equipment required to complete the effort.

Maintain Network and telecommunications system level and site documentation/configuration (includes information assurance controls).

Apply a broad and in-depth working knowledge of DoD IT network infrastructure to a wide variety of assignments through the application of technical concepts, practices, and procedures.

Perform equipment installations, including racking and stacking, cable pulls, cable terminations and cable testing; equipment installation including ancillary items. May include network routers, switches, firewalls, and crypto and communications devices.

Trouble shoots and resolves installation issues and discrepancies. Work with Quality Assurance and Configuration Management to meet documented standards.

Conducts tests or diagnostics requiring selection and adaptation of a wide variety of test equipment and test procedures; sets up and operates equipment; record data, measures and records problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level; and analyzes data and prepares test reports.


Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors is required. Government vehicle is used on an as needed basis. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, required travel to remote working locations with occasional over-night assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.


Prefer a graduate from an accredited two-year technical school with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory or military equivalent with emphasis of RF disciplines. Background in general electronics and good understanding of radar theory and test equipment used to maintain and repair radar equipment and related devices. Ability to troubleshoot to the component level. Good understanding of tubes, transistors, logic gates and high power RF sources. Cisco CCENT / Fiber Certifications Preferred. Security+ or Network+ Certification is required for this position. A class A commercial driver's license is may be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance up to Top Secret. An existing security clearance is strongly desired.
