The Business Process Excellence (BPE) function works across all business units and functions globally and is the Center Of Excellence for Enterprise scale process, or "mega-process," redesign and establishment of Agile ways of working in the enterprise. The Agile ways of working the BPR team enables and supports are how Pfizer will achieve our Purpose of Breakthroughs that Change Patients' Lives. Using facilitated, cross-functional Kaizen events, we re-imagine simplified, more efficient and digitized processes, organizational structures and solutions. In addition, we enable sustained effectiveness at a team and team-of-teams levels through the application of scrum, Kanban and other Agile mindsets and methodologies. As the enterprise COE for Agile, we enable teams to accomplish their work in a faster, more innovative and customer-centric way.
The Director, Kaizen Facilitator/Agile Coach role is accountable for ensuring teams get maximum the business value of the use of Agile through effective application of its mindsets and methodologies.
Through fostering a community of Agile expertise, and facilitating Kaizen process redesign events, this role provides value to our internal and external stakeholders and supports teams in creating breakthroughs for Patients. This colleague will establish best practices to ensure the team lives agile values and principles and understands the processes and practices that allow teams to enjoy the benefits of living in Agile ways, measuring their progress and continuously improving.

Working with a across talented teams of functional and technical experts, they are key proponents of Agile practices and values, using these to help drive forward the program of digital transformation that empowers Pfizer's customer-oriented vision.
This director-level position requires an individual with a proven ability to lead/coach teams across a variety of disciplines, delivering results that meet and exceed stakeholder expectations.
The Director, Kaizen Facilitator / Agile Coach will help lead our organization in adopting new ways of working by facilitating Kaizen events to bring cross-functional teams together to understand, document and simplify Enterprise 'mega-processes.' Once new processes are defined, aid in the establishment of necessary business cases and planning required to implement the changes through implementation of Agile teams.
To do this, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Educate and train colleagues, stakeholders and senior leaders across the entire enterprise, on Kaizen/Agile principles, methodologies and ways of working while providing them with tools for implementing the process in their own work and overcome roadblocks. They are accountable for training teams and establishing in them the valuable skills that allow for the organization-wide adoption of Agile methodologies.
Plan and implement scaled agile teams and facilitate complex design of scaled teams using SAFe ensuring that team vision, goals, scope, KPIs, and the product domain are established, agreed and understood by everyone on the scrum team for their lasting success and continuous improvement.
Leads the design as appropriate of organizational changes to ensure sustained adoption of Agile methods and practices.
Establish an effective and measurable 'business value driver' tree for all teams, linking teams' expected outcomes and vision to discreet KPIs allowing every team member to see the direct linkage of work to outcome.
Train and coach enterprise level senior leaders on new or enhanced behaviors needed to sustainably lead and enable Agile teams. Acts as advocate for Kaizen and Agile ways of working, influencing stakeholders and leveraging constructive relationships across the company to achieve the needs of the business units involved.
Act an agent of change for organizations using Kaizen and Agile within Pfizer, facilitating communities (guilds and chapters) of Agile practitioners to become self-sustaining, thriving and collaborative
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, master's degree preferred
10+ years of relevant experience as a process redesign, improvement expert and/or leading global organizations in transforming to adopt Agile ways of thinking and working.
Is a subject matter expert in the concepts and theories in application of Agile principles, mindsets and methodologies and/or application of Kaizen events to redefine business processes
Proven expertise in delivering business value gained from experience working as an Agile coach, scrum master and/or product owner, using methodologies like design thinking and lean, promoting innovation and taking appropriate risks to challenge the status quo
Anticipates the internal and external business and regulatory / compliance issues that will impact the highly complex problems being solved.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak in public and present in front of stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and to deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
Comfortable with ambiguity and facilitating discussions to explore the best possible solutions
Ability to lead inspire with imagination, courage, and curiosity in a complex, matrix environment with virtual teams and indirect resources geographically distributed.
The ideal candidate will have one or more coaching level certifications from industry-recognized scrum, scaled agile, Kanban and Kaizen certification bodies, (for example, Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) and/or Certified SAFe Program Consultant).
Comprehensive knowledge of principles and concepts in business processes across biopharmaceutical companies
Ideally, has a proven track record of using knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, related industries, customer requirements and the general business environment to support teams in their revising processes and/or adopting Agile
Experience in using and/or teaching use of Jira, Confluence and Jira Align a plus.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Travel will be required as part of this role. Expectations around travel will vary but candidates must be capable of travel within the region, to other regions, and to Pfizer World Headquarters.
BPE is a 7x24x365 endeavor. This role may require physical or virtual participation on a weekend, holiday, or after normal business hours
Primary working hours will follow the Eastern time zone
