Territory includes California, Nevada and Colorado

Responsible for acquiring new, group Taft Hartley (multi-employer, labor union) business through brokers, consultants and/or directly to plan sponsors. The labor market is a dedicated vertical at Anthem which includes case sizes from 100 contracts to jumbo sized while the average group size is 1000-4999 contracts.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategizing, prospecting and developing a sales and marketing plan to utilize sales skills to acquire new, profitable business increasing revenue and profit through new and renewal sales of medical, retiree and specialty/ancillary products.

  • Generates lead activity maintaining a credible pipeline of opportunity while consistently making sales calls and performing capability presentations.

  • Daily diligence using salesforce.com reporting to update sales reports for pipeline management and sales management forecasting.

  • Builds direct union decision maker relationships as well as relationships with decision influencers.

  • Develop and maintain market presence by attending all labor events including local and national conferences.

  • Work with subject matter expert peers including underwriting, medical directors, network managers as well as internal consultants, retiree and ancillary sales peers to increase close ratios.

  • Requires a BA/BS; 5 years of related experience working with labor business; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Exhibits senior level sales and training competencies as defined by the business unit.

  • Territory includes California, Nevada and Colorado. Travel to each state is required to be successful.

  • Sales license for each state of business required.
