Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Patient Escort transports patients and equipment within Renown Regional Medical Center and professional centers as well as within Northern Nevada and Western States areas. Nature and Scope: This position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients and equipment throughout within Renown Regional Medical Center and professional centers as well as within Northern Nevada and Western States areas.

The incumbent will be required to assist nursing staff in transferring patient to and from gurneys, wheelchairs and beds in a timely and consistent manner.

The incumbent must possess ability to evaluate patient transportation and disposition priorities. Communication in a professional and caring manner with patients, police, fire, REMSA personnel, Special Event staff and all other hospital customers is required.

The incumbent must possess a polite, positive attitude while dealing with customers of all ages, social, cultural and economic backgrounds.

Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work with Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patient’s needs specific to the population being served, and meets standards of quality as measured by the Department age specific competency standard.

The position is accountable to operate cell phones, pagers, designated Renown Health motor vehicles and other emergency medical equipment in accordance with state, city, FCC and Renown Regional Medical Center regulations. Unusual circumstances, complicated situations, and out of the ordinary decisions will be referred to the Supervisor.

The incumbent must be able to function autonomously in a high intensity atmosphere and make appropriate decisions pertaining to quality patient care as well as personal and patient safety. The incumbent must demonstrate the desire to promote a healing and caring environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements – Required and/or Preferred Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Experience: Patient/healthcare related experience preferred. License(s): Valid State of Nevada or California driver’s license and ability to pass Renown Health’s Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria. Certification(s): Current AHA CPR or BLS with AED course completion within 30 days of hire. Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
