Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior HR Data Engineer in Reno, Nevada

In this remote role, the Sr. HR Data Engineer will support and continuously improve a robust AWS cloud-based data infrastructure that will help us improve workforce decisions that drive business performance and growth at Thermo Fisher Scientific with over 70,000 colleagues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and implements ETL and database back-end architecture for data-intensive applications.

  • Collaborates with users and product stakeholders to determine use cases and translates to technical requirements

  • Builds user facing solutions to support business intelligence and business process automation initiatives.

  • Discovers and integrates new data from various sources.

  • Shares knowledge and trains others on skills and competencies.

  • Documents end-to-end the data movement and data lineage used to create user facing solutions.

  • Applies deep understanding of data security applied to end-user data access.

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer or data science, engineering, or a related field; or 10+ years work experience.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience working with business intelligence solutions in the Microsoft tool stack (SQL Server, Power BI, DAX).

  • Experience designing and building complete ETL processes moving and transforming data.

  • Experience developing in cloud environment; Amazon Web Services preferred.

  • Writes advanced SQL including query tuning.

  • Writes advanced Python with comprehensive testing.

  • Experience in creating Power BI and SSRS reports based on business questions with linked content, drilldowns, and nested parameters.

  • Ability to create measures or KPIs in DAX.

  • Experience with version control and project management software (e.g., Git, JIRA).

  • Verbal and written skills to support data discovery and documentation.
