Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior HR Data Engineer in Reno, Nevada
In this remote role, the Sr. HR Data Engineer will support and continuously improve a robust AWS cloud-based data infrastructure that will help us improve workforce decisions that drive business performance and growth at Thermo Fisher Scientific with over 70,000 colleagues.
Designs, develops and implements ETL and database back-end architecture for data-intensive applications.
Collaborates with users and product stakeholders to determine use cases and translates to technical requirements
Builds user facing solutions to support business intelligence and business process automation initiatives.
Discovers and integrates new data from various sources.
Shares knowledge and trains others on skills and competencies.
Documents end-to-end the data movement and data lineage used to create user facing solutions.
Applies deep understanding of data security applied to end-user data access.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer or data science, engineering, or a related field; or 10+ years work experience.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience working with business intelligence solutions in the Microsoft tool stack (SQL Server, Power BI, DAX).
Experience designing and building complete ETL processes moving and transforming data.
Experience developing in cloud environment; Amazon Web Services preferred.
Writes advanced SQL including query tuning.
Writes advanced Python with comprehensive testing.
Experience in creating Power BI and SSRS reports based on business questions with linked content, drilldowns, and nested parameters.
Ability to create measures or KPIs in DAX.
Experience with version control and project management software (e.g., Git, JIRA).
Verbal and written skills to support data discovery and documentation.
