Hycroft Resources & Development Inc Senior Long Range Mine Engineer in Winnemucca, Nevada

Hycroft Mining Corporation is a US-based gold and silver mining company, which operates its wholly owned Hycroft open pit, gold and silver mine located an hour south west of Winnemucca, Nevada.

Job Summary

The Senior Long Range Mine Engineer is responsible to develop long-term plans for a complex series of ore bodies; design access ramps, schedule movement of ore and waste according to plan, evaluate alternative mining methods and equipment needs to ensure mining method is suitable while working closely with various departments. Works closely with short range engineering to assure plan compliance and mining direction. Will develop long range waste dump and leach pad planning. Interface with Environmental Department to ensure all permitting is in place to prevent delays to any site construction and other operational projects. Will participate in Strategic planning with support for site reserve and resource estimates.

Job Description

  • Aware of the mining location and sequences for the next six-months through life of mine time frame.

  • Participate in Geotechnical review and ensure pit, waste dump, and leach pad designs follow design criteria.

  • Work closely with Geology to lay out drilling areas in front of six month to five-year mining areas to assure good assay information can be obtained far enough in advance to schedule mining areas.

  • Ability to know cycle times for trucks from various pit and stockpile areas to the dumping location. Check with field time studies to make sure the accuracy of the times is used for planning.

  • Become familiar with equipment productivities for planning work to assist in providing a good planning knowledge for quick checks to make sure plans are achievable.

  • Use a database of production data from Mine Operations, Maintenance and Crushing Departments for use in life of mine planning comparisons.

  • Develop a sense of continuous improvement on mining sequencing to improve, maximize and optimize workflow and processes.

  • Effective communication skills, as well as interpersonal, problem solving, basic math skills to perform routine calculations and recognize, correct, and inform others when quality control is out of range.

  • Produce yearly budget mine plans including all maps. Transition into a 5-year mine plan in detail and a life of mine plan. MineMax software package experience a plus for scheduling.

  • Support resource and reserve estimates through design and life-of-mine sequencing activities.

  • Fill in for short range planning to assist in coverage in the absence of short-range planning Engineer.

  • Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.

  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or equivalent required with a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in open pit mine operation.

  • Knowledge of how to prepare budgets, model cash flows, and an awareness of the main items in balance sheets and income statements will be an advantage.

  • Knowledge of Vulcan software and mining CAD software a plus. Experience in MineMax scheduling software a plus.

  • Effective communication skills, as well as interpersonal, problem solving, basic math skills to perform routine calculations and recognize, correct, and inform others when quality control is out of range.

  • Requires valid driver’s license.
